Sober Socials is a free online resource to help sober and sober-curious people find sober events and connection.
It was founded by Michael Sargood (aka @HappyWithoutTheHooch on Instagram and Facebook) in 2021 after he ditched the booze and struggled to find events that didn't centre around alcohol.
Originally organising alcohol-free events

It was founded by Michael Sargood (aka @HappyWithoutTheHooch on Instagram and Facebook) in 2021 after he ditched the booze and struggled to find events that didn't centre around alcohol.
Originally organising alcohol-free events in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, Sober Socials has now evolved to promote alcohol-free events and communities across the UK and Ireland.

I am a writer and amateur comic who went alcohol-free after becoming alcohol-dependent.
Since ditching the booze, I have been trying to find joy in sobriety by forging new social circles, organising and attending sober events and pursuing all sorts of new interests - from stand-up comedy to wild swimming, from gong baths to alcohol-free cocktail making.

I aim to forge a supportive community of like-minded folk and help people access the burgeoning sober social scene in the UK.
I believe in equality, kindness and celebrating and encouraging others to achieve sobriety.
