The Big Sober Game Show

Do you love game shows but don't love alcohol? Well this is just the ticket for you!

The Big Sober Game Show takes place on the third Monday of each month at 8pm (UK time) and is hosted by sobriety's two favourite Sober Michaels, namely Michael Sargood (IG/FB @happywithoutthehooch) and his glamorous assistant Michael Singh (IG @sober_singhy).

The Big Sober Game Show features:

• six rounds of puzzles, riddles and games loosely based on your favourite TV game shows.
• an abundance of silliness
• a high-octane raffle
• some fab prizes.

As you will be responsible for marking your own papers, a level of honesty is required. The winner of the gameshow will take home the honour of winning plus an exclusive tropny to show off to their friends. The raffle prizes are somewhat more glamorous and typically involve alcohol-free drinks, books, event tickets and any other goodies we can lay our hands on!

Members of the Sober Fan Club (£3/month subscription) play for free. Everyone else can get tickets for £3 per player. Raffle tickets are priced at £1 each for all.

Q. How will The Big Sober Game Show be hosted?

The Big Sober Game Show will be hosted on Google Meet. You will need a Google account to take part. In addition, if you are planning to join via phone or tablet, we strongly recommend downloading the Google Meet app beforehand for better performance. If you are joining via desktop, Google Meet will run in your browser.

If you use Google services such as Google Chrome or Gmail, you are likely to already have an account. If you do not have an account, you can create one quickly here.

Q. How will you stop people from cheating?

A. The Big Sober Game Show is intended to be a bit of fun and we are relying on people being honest. As there is litte-to-no trivia involved, it will be very difficult to Google your answers. Lastly, the prizes for the quiz are not so valuable that they are worth cheating for (the raffle prizes on the other hand...)

Q. What could I win?

The winner of The Big Sober Game Show will receive an engraved trophy and the honour of winning. 

Raffle prizes are somewhat more upmarket and usually include some fab AF drinks, sober merchandise, limited free membership of the Sober Fan Club, and whatever our budget and ingenuity can afford.

Q. Can I be part of a team?

You can play on your own or as part of a team. Your team could all be physically together or conversing via, say, a WhatsApp group. If playing as part of a team, we ask that you purchase one ticket per player. Furthermore, if you do play as part of a team, you will have to bicker among you about who takes the prize, so bear this in mind! Again, this is not worth falling out over. All teams must nominate a team leader and notify the Gamesmaster who this is before the Big Sober Game Show commences.

Q. Can I play if I'm outside the UK?

You can take part in the Big Sober Game Show from anywhere in the world. However, we are unfortunately not able to ship prizes internationally so suggest international players do not buy raffle tickets unless they have someone in the UK they would like to receive the prize.

Q. Can I get my money back if I don't win?

No!
